My philosophy centers on the concept of food as medicine. I believe that by embracing whole food nutrition and engaging in therapeutic fasting, we can unlock the body’s natural healing mechanisms. It is my mission to guide and empower you to become your own most potent healer, fostering a deep connection between mind, body, and spirit.

I attended Michaela’s 10 day juice and water fasting detox retreat in April 2024 and it was an incredibly positive and rewarding experience. The property we stayed at was beautiful. The vegan meals were delicious. The fasting days, with the support of MJ, were not at all as difficult as I had thought they were going to be. When I returned home, I tried to bring as much of this experience with me as I could, such as eating a more vegetarian diet, and the mindset that I can do challenging things that I set my mind to. Do I have to fast?
No, fasting is not recommended for everyone. A consultation with Dr. Michaela prior to your arrival will determine if fasting is suitable for you. Meal packages are avaialble for companions or peopel who wish to attend but want to eat the whole time or part time.

Can I bring my own food?
Yes, there are two kitchens at the house, and guests who wish to purchase the base package without meals can provide their own food. We ask that guests adhere to some healthful guidelines and focus on whole food meals. Please avoid any ultra processed foods or any items that contain high amounts of salt, oil, and sugar.
Is there medical supervision?
Yes. Dr. Michaela is trained in medically supervisded water fasting and will be on-site for the duration of the retreat. 1-1 check-ins will take place every morning, and additional time for health talks and Q&A will be scheduels for the group.
What airport should I fly into?
The closest airport is the Hilo airport. You can fly into Kona, but that is a 2.5 hour drive from the retreat house and you will have to arrange your own transportation if you fly into Kona.
Can we leave the property?
There will be several off-site excursions planed for the group to experience near by hot ponds, state parks, black sand beaches, and other cultural sites.
Kehena black sand beach is a short walk from the house, and guests are encouraged to go for a walk in nature each day.
That being said, for guests who are water fasting, it is advised to stay close by once you are a few days into the fast. Please reserve off-site trips and strenuous exercise for when you are eating.
